The family names in the Kappa Mu chapter are taken from the last names of the members of the Alpha Pledge class (with the exception of the Marquez family, who decend from a prominent transfer student from another chapter who became very active in Kappa Mu). These families have grown to the levels that they currently have today over many years within the chapter.
